Diaper Champ Vs. Diaper Genie

Ok. We need your help. We have been trying to decide which diaper system will be the best for us. We would appreciate any first hand reviews from anyone who has to deal with dirty diapers. Please list your pro's and con's for the one you use. If you use something different we'd love your input as well. Thanks

We have the diaper champ. It is great because you just use regular garbage bags. I think you can just put the bag in and close the lid. Not completely sure since changing it isn't my job :)
The only experience I have had with the genie is at church in the nursery and I have never been successful. I do like that with the champ you don't have to push your hand into the hole, you just put it in and flip. Super easy.
Hope this helps.

dirty diapers in a target bag and thrown out the back door toward the garage works great for us :)
we stick the wet ones in our kitchen garbage (which goes out daily and is stored away in a cupboard) and have an odor-reducing wallflower in there and have never had a problem with a smell.
we'll see how this works as the little man gets bigger!

We do the same thing as the Hovings and our son is 2. Still works great! One less thing to make a spot for as well.

I vote for the Diaper Champ! I just didn't see the sense in spending more money on those expensive refills for the Diaper Genie. I would usually buy scented "kitchen size" garbage bags at the dollar store to put in my Diaper Champ. The only time there was a problem with odor was when I was actually taking the full bag out and replacing it with a new one. I will say when the kids were about 2 years or so - we dumped the Diaper Champ and did what your friends the Hoving's do. But - when you have a newborn and are constantly changing diapers - it's nice to have the Diaper Champ in the nursery - in my opinion. Hope this helps your decision.
